4th of July fun with the family

Over the 4th of July we were able to get the whole family to Tahoe to boat, wakeboard, swim, hike, eat s'mores and just have fun together.  It was great!

This weekend Laurie and I participated in a photoshoot at the coast.  Here are a few of the over 500 pictures we took.  We visited the beach for the first half of the day, and a redwood forest in the afternoon.

Before the shoot, we took a few shots just for fun.

Here come the wave.

And there is the rest of the wave!

Laurie caught a beauty of a seagull in flight.
The next few are my attempt to capture the motion of the waves over the rocks.

Sea Lion enjoying the nice weather

Bird enjoying the critters near the Sea Lion

Dead something, not really doing much of anything

This time, I captures some waves coming right at me!

Laurie took a free shot.

Starfish and his afternoon lunch remains.

Sea Anemome - both shot with the D10, underwater

And a cute little hermit crab.
After the beach, we took a drive to Pescadero, picked up sandwiches at a wonderful bakery, and drove to the redwood park, just a few miles inland.  There we had lunch and enjoyed the serenity of the coastal forest.

You'll have to look close to see the spiderweb in the center.

We also captured the denizen of the forest, the Banana Slug!

Talk about forest primeval!

Lyrids

So the Lyrids meteor shower was scheduled to pummel the earth with debris from a comet last night, achieving its maximum between 8pm and 2am.  As a good nerd, I decided to shortcut nature and use my camera instead.  I programmed the camera to take a 25 second exposure every 30 seconds, thereby capturing over 80% of the available meteor capturing time.  I shot over 750 pictures.  The vast number of meteorites was totally staggering.  Out of the 750 images, I managed to find two.  YES!  two whole images with a meteorite!  Glad I did not waste the evening trying to see them live.  Here is the best one:

Mason came to visit yesterday.  We were so pleased to be able to watch Mason while his parents went to the Temple and had a date night.  What a fun little guy.  We had a blast with him.  Sure, he was feeling poorly after his 4 month old shot... but he still kept a pretty good face on for his grandparents and aunt.

Mason is thrilled to be spending time with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Ashley!

First bottle - running on empty!  He gets hungry after smiling and laughing so much.

Second Bottle - much better.  Princess, of course, needs to help.

Mason is SOOO happy after getting two bottle and a diaper change.

Posing for pictures is no problem for this young male model.

After a hard afternoon of playing, a little crying, eating, and p...ing, it's time for a nap in Grandma's arms.
